The Phoenix Road Performing Gardens, developed with Nooma and the London Borough of Camden, was the winning entry in the LFA’s ‘Somers Town Acts’ competition. The scheme created a street garden for community gatherings, storytelling, and performance. Lightweight materials and simple construction techniques were prioritised, with ‘The Performer’ built using a column and truss grid for quick assembly and stability. ‘The Storyteller’ featured inclined elements tied by circular rings and discreet sandbag ballast within the seating, eliminating the need for ground fixings.
