Creative Wellbeing Space
This new arts-led community space is within vacant retail units at ground floor of the Hamara Ghar sheltered housing block in the London Borough of Newham. Engagement and consultation has included Green Street residents, the council and the operator; local charity, Rosetta Arts.
The space includes six artists' studios for those working in socially engaged practices, residency or workshops space, workspace, a café and dedicated sensory room and storage. New voids formed within the existing first floor concrete structure provide new connections from ground floor to first floor. New voids and infill are also present in internal load-bearing structure and along the external elevations. The project opens to Queen's Square, providing a direct link to this space.
